Back to Home Buying 101

The closing is the last step; soon you will own your home. During the closing, an escrow officer that works for the title company or closing agent will explain the paperwork, collect signatures and collect/disburse money.

You, the buyer, are expected to bring the following items to a closing. (There may be additional items depending on your geographic location and situation.)
  1. Money to cover the down payment and closing costs (cashier’s check, certified check or money order)
  2. Proof of homeowner’s insurance
  3. Valid photo ID
  4. Social Security card
  5. After all the paperwork has been signed and the money has been distributed to the proper party(s), you will receive the keys to your new home!
